Soils is a complex and still too often overlooked ecosystem. In total interdependence with water, biodiversity, and climate, our agriculture, as well as our economy and health, depend on their condition.
Yet, more than 40% of soils on the planet are currently degraded. It is therefore urgent to act to protect and regenerate them.
Naturally connected to soils through its various terroirs, Moët Hennessy has been committed for many years to the preservation of living soils and launched in 2022, as part of a collective initiative, the World Living Soils Forum, a gathering dedicated to the preservation, health, and regeneration of soils.
The second edition, co-organized with ChangeNOW on the 9th & 10th of October 2024 brought together more than 500 participants in Arles and 100 in the two satellite events in China and the United States.
Scientists, institutions, start-ups, farmers, NGOs, and executives from both the private and public sectors, from different industries, joined the 70 sessions of roundtables, keynotes, workshops, pitches, etc. The program, with 180 speakers, was structured around 4 tracks highlighting the major challenges faced to support the agricultural and viticultural transition making the importance of joining forces a crucial lever to accelerate and scale up.
During this second edition, a call for collective action was launched, with the aim of mobilizing even more widely around the need to preserve and regenerate soils.
