Dirk Böttcher – born in 1974 in Rostock, Germany – has worked as a freelance journalist, copywriter and editor for media such as brand eins magazine, for companies, and as a scriptwriter and director for TV documentaries. He has curated exhibitions, created theatre productions and film festivals, and taught at schools and universities. His work focuses on topics in the fields of economics, society, culture and science. He lived for ten years in Quebec, Canada – today he lives and works in Rostock and Parchim and is a co-founder of ag text and ag next GmbH. 2024 Publishing the book "Das verkaufte Land" 2015 ‘Rufer’ Media Prize from the Chambers of Industry and Commerce in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania 2014 Fellow of the ‘Masterclass: The Future of Science Journalism’ (Bosch Foundation) 2011 Nomination for the German Reporter Prize (‘Best Interview’) 2009 Journalism Award from the Volksbanken and Raiffeisenbanken, Savings and Loan Banks in Rhineland and Westphalia. 2007/2008 Fellow of the “European Journalists Fellowships” at the Free University of Berlin 2004 Kontext Research Scholarship for the promotion of young journalists 2004 Organisation of the first Franco-Canadian Film Festival in Rostock Since 1998 Freelance journalist and editor, co-founder of ag text 1998–2006 Studied at the University of Rostock (History, Sociology, Sport) 1996–1998 Editor and editor-in-chief at “Kulturspiegel M-V” 1993–1996 Training as a tax consultancy assistant in Delmenhorst, Germany 1990–1993 A-levels at Erasmus-Gymnasium in Rostock
