Sand to Green

Scientific Lead Soil

Hamza Khassali is the Scientific Lead at Sand to Green. Prior to joining Sand to Green, he served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development, where he focused on the rehabilitation of IMERYS mining sites across Brazil, Thailand, Greece, and France. In his research, he employed bio-inoculants, including mycorrhizae and rhizobacteria, to enhance plant resilience under various pedoclimatic conditions. With an extensive background in soil science, particularly in the interactions between plants and microorganisms, Hamza is adept at selecting beneficial microorganisms to improve the success rates of plantations in extreme environments. He holds a PhD in microbiology, with a specialization in evaluation and management of soil microbial potentialities for improving the carob tree tolerance to water constraints. This expertise enables him to effectively manage resistance to various biotic and abiotic stresses, contributing to sustainable agricultural practices.
