Nicola Rapetti holds a degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of Milan (1996) and a Postgraduate Engineering degree from Institut Agro Montpellier. After twelve years in the agri-food sector managing commercial teams across international groups — while completing a Master's in International Marketing at CNAM (2001) — he founded Microterra in 2009, a company initially focused on organic waste valorisation (2010) and later, from 2018, on soil regeneration. Since 2024, Microterra has developed several patented innovations: Technolitiere, a bio-active organic surface matrix mimicking natural forest litter to restore degraded urban and peri-urban soils; Terraline, a biosourced compost sock system for erosion control and soil-moisture retention; and TechnoSol, a high-agronomic-value reconstructed soil derived from organic waste and excavation materials. Since 2023, Nicola has been completing a PhD at the University of Montpellier, studying the economic, ecological and social regeneration dynamics of territories — including pioneering examples such as the Bioregion of Drome (Biovallée). From this interplay between entrepreneurial action and academic reflection emerges the concept of the 'permaterritory': a systemic framework transposing the principles of permaculture, bioregionalism and bioeconomy to territorial scale, weaving together material flows, local ecosystems and human communities into a global regenerative logic. This concept was published in an international management journal in April 2026.
