Perrier-Jouët Cellar Master

Description

Originally from Champagne, I realized at a very young age that I had a passion for wine and wanted to make it my career. After earning a National Diploma in Oenology and a Master’s degree in Oenology from the University of Reims, I held various positions at several champagne houses. Piper and Charles Heidsieck was the last of these; I stayed there for 17 years until I took on the role of Cellar Master. I joined the House of Perrier-Jouët in 2018 as Cellar Master, working alongside Hervé Deschamps as he prepared for my succession. My mission is to preserve the floral and complex style of the House’s wines, their elegant Chardonnay signature, and their quality. “I am impressed by the House’s history, its cultural heritage, and its expertise. And I am always moved when I walk through the cellars, which are steeped in history. Especially the Eden, the cellar where the House’s and Champagne’s oldest bottles are stored—bottles dating back to 1825. I am aware of the importance of preserving everything that constitutes the House’s heritage—and that gives meaning to our wines—such as manual disgorgement and riddling.” Over the course of my career, I have developed a passion-driven expertise, combined with intuition and memory, that allows me to understand wine in all its complexity. The history of the House of Perrier-Jouët was shaped by Rose-Adelaïde Jouët, who founded the house with her husband Pierre-Nicolas Perrier in 1811. A woman of character, determined and daring, she has inspired me greatly. My love of wine, my commitment to quality, and my connection to nature and the terroir are in line with the philosophy of Perrier-Jouët.
