Dr. Jean-Philippe Boulanger graduated from the "Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon" and received his Ph.D. in Climatology from Pierre and Marie Curie University in 1994.
After a post-doctorate at NASA (Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, California), he entered CNRS (Center National de la Recherche Scientifique) in 1997.
Since then, Dr. Boulanger coordinates several national and international climate research projects. From 2004 to 2007, he coordinated the European project CLARIS ("A Europe-South America Network for Climate Change Assessment and Impact Studies") that brought together 13 prestigious institutes from Europe and South America. In 2006, Dr. Boulanger received an Executive-MBA from Torcuato Di Tella University (Buenos Aires, Argentina). In September 2007, he joined IRD (Institut de Recherche pour le Développement) with the position of Director of Research.
From 2008 to 2012, he coordinated the European project CLARIS LPB ("A Europe-South America Network for Climate Change Assessment and Impact Studies in La Plata Basin"; http://www.claris.eu.org) which brought together 20 Institutes of Europe and South America and more than 170 scientists.
From 2010 to 2013, he has been a member of Group 2 (Impacts, Vulnerability and Adaptation) of the GIEC (Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Climate Change, http://www.ipcc.ch).
In 2011, with the support of research institutes and universities in Argentina and France, Dr. Boulanger created the company ECOCLIMASOL (www.ecoclimasol.com), whose mission is to accompany companies and public institutions in reducing their vulnerability to climate and in implementing operational sustainable development strategies.
