Description
Willie Ng is a social entrepreneur and climate innovator focused on building circular economy solutions that support rural communities and environmental sustainability. He is the founder of Global Cerah, a Malaysia-based enterprise that transforms agricultural and organic waste into alternative protein and organic fertilizer, reducing emissions while lowering production costs for farmers.
Starting in Sabah, one of Malaysia’s most underserved regions, Willie has led the growth of Global Cerah from a grassroots initiative into a scalable, impact-driven enterprise. Under his leadership, the organization has upcycled over 50,000 tons of agricultural waste, reduced more than 30,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions, and supported over 10,000 smallholder farmers through access to affordable agricultural inputs. His work has also created more than 3,000 rural job opportunities, with a strong emphasis on empowering women and indigenous communities.
Willie’s approach integrates technology, including IoT and automation, with community-driven implementation to ensure efficiency, traceability, and long-term sustainability. His work aligns closely with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in climate action, responsible production, and economic inclusion. He is committed to building practical, scalable systems that turn environmental challenges into economic opportunities while strengthening resilience in underserved communities.
