Augustin de La Grandière
President & Co-founder of MILPA
Augustin de La Grandière is a farmer by training and by passion. Originally from the Poitou region of France, he co-founded MILPA with his brother Étienne de la Grandière, drawing on over 12 years of hands-on experience in bio-regenerative farming.
In 2012, he took over the family farm and threw himself into bio-regenerative practices. Convinced of the economic potential of this approach, he helped a neighbouring farmer make the transition — taking the financial risk on himself. That act of solidarity became the founding principle of MILPA.
He began experimenting with the concept of guaranteed income for farmers on neighbouring properties, and as demand grew, he turned the idea into a full-fledged company. Ecotone
Today, MILPA manages nearly 7 000 hectares under bio-regenerative practices — no chemical inputs, no pesticides, permanent ground cover, minimal soil disturbance — and guarantees a per-hectare income to around thirty farms across five French regions.
Day to day, Augustin oversees agronomic and operational development while steering the overall vision of MILPA as a founding partner. His favourite part of the job? Talking agriculture, visiting partner farms, and watching a territory shift from conventional to bio-regenerative farming.
In May 2025, he welcomed impact fund Aurae into MILPA's capital, marking a new chapter in the company's growth.
